Do I need experience to sign up for any IBCA classes?

You do not need any experience for Foundation level classes, Home Enthusiast classes, or the Technical Machine Maintenance classes. In order to register for an Intermediate class, you must either have real-world experience or have completed the Foundation level class in the same field of study. To sign up for a Professional level course, it is required that you have completed the Intermediate level class in the same field of study prior to registering.

How do I register for classes?

You can register for all IBCA classes by clicking here, by calling us at (480) 731-3236 or by emailing us at info@ibca-usa.com.

What should I do if I’m not quite ready to register?

You can email or contact us here to be added to a waiting list for your course.

What do I need to bring?

You do not need to bring anything with you to the classes. We’ll provide all the materials you will need. We’ll even send you home with a coffee sample. Bring only your passion for coffee, and any questions you’d like the instructor to address.

How much do classes cost?

Price varies based on the amount of knowledge and hands-on experience provided, as well as the cost of materials, the usage of various machines for training, as well as the class level and certification awarded. Full day SCA (Speciality Coffee Association) courses, which provide certification and assist you to complete your SCA Coffee Diploma, start at $525. Prices for each unique class are quoted under the various fields of study found under the “Courses” tab at the top of the IBCA website.

Why do I need SCA Certification?

The world of coffee is more competitive than ever. If you desire a career beyond light barista and cashier work, you will need certification that you possess knowledge in areas not taught in your average coffee house. An SCA Coffee Diploma can open doors in the fields of distribution, manufacturing, and international business and trade. This is a prestigious certification and highly sought after by those in the coffee industry. If you'd like to learn more about the SCA Diploma System, please click here.
